Neuro-affirming Education & Therapy
The medical model views Neurodivergent people as being 'disordered' and to have deficits in terms of skills and abilities. Statutory services and medical professionals don't always consider that it might be our environments that contribute to the challenges we face. Pre and post diagnosis, there is very limited support available within our communities that isn't deficit model based. Words and phrases are often used, but without education around what they mean. People are often expected to figure things out alone and this can be traumatic, confusing and isolating. With our first-hand knowledge, professional skills and work experience, Neuro-affirming education underpins every aspect of our practice, with a focus on navigating diagnosis, exploring terminology, identifying feelings and emotions and celebrating difference. We use a person-centred approach, using strength-focused language to avoid reinforcing stigma around Neurodivergence. Our services are guided by Neurodivergent voices and we work with people in a way that suits individual needs and celebrates difference.

Neuro-affirming Therapy

We are very lucky to to be working alongside Lissa, who is our in-house Neurodivergent BACP Accredited Psychotherapist. We believe that therapy should be accessible, neuro-affirming, and not be restricted to a short amount of sessions. Lissa is offering sessions every Tuesday, at exclusive rates for members of our community. Face to face or online sessions can be arranged after an initial 45 minute, free consultation has taken place. You can read Lissa's profile here:

"I work from the understanding that there is no 'one right way' to think, feel, or experience the world. As a Neurodivergent therapist and parent of Neurodivergent children, I bring both lived and professional insight into my practice. I offer a space where neurodiversity is recognised, respected, and supported—not pathologised or 'fixed'. My integrative approach means I adapt how I work to suit you. Together, we will create a therapeutic process that feels supportive, collaborative, and empowering—honouring your individual ways of processing, communicating, and making meaning. I aim to nurture your growth in ways that feel authentic and sustainable for you. I have a particular interest in later-in-life neurodivergent identification and diagnosis, and I work with an awareness of power, identity, and the wider social systems that shape our experiences. This includes exploring the impact of gender, inequality, and cultural expectations on wellbeing, relationships, and sense of self. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am committed to offering an inclusive, affirming space for people of all genders, sexualities, and relationship styles. I offer sessions online and from my own comfortable, private space, creating a calm and confidential environment where you can explore whatever brings you to therapy."
